Should I buy a new motherboard or AGP video card?

I want to buy good AGP card that can run current generation at a maximum resolution of 1024×768. But I'm having a dilemma. Should I buy a PCI-e card or mother compatible decent AGP card. Give me the price too. I'm also going to increase to 2 GB of RAM
