Cannot move recording slider?

I have a PC with Windows XP Home and Vinyl AC’97 Audio (WAVE). The slider contol is non movable and I need to turn it down for cassette recording to digital.

   I’m not sure what configuration of harware and software you are using, but visit the following for a guide on how to record vinyl/cassette to CD/PC:
