Clear car stickers where to buy?

Perta asked:

I have a sticker from a college i want to apply to my car. The sticker goes on the inside of the back window, however i don’t want to take off the defroster when i remove it. I also have a school parking pass that needs to be applied to the front wind shield. Is there anything i can apply these stickers to so that they can be removed more easily. like a clear sheet of vinyl or something along those lines?

for the parking permit, I would just use celophane tape. Its not a large sticker, so the tape should hold up just fine

For the rear window – whether you apply the decal itself, or a clear overlay, you are still applying the adhessive to the defroster, and run the risk of damaging it on removal.

Check with a tint shop or plastics shop for some 3M clear automotive film. This is the material used to make “clear bras” on the front of many cars. There is also a good film made by Avery.

It is applied the same as window tint. You need LOTS of water witha little soap, razor knife, and a squeege. The both films have a ‘release layer’ that contacts the surface. When you are ready to remove it, heat a corner with a hair dryer. Slowly pull out and up on the film – heating the leading edge as you go. It should lift off the glass just fine without damaging the defroster.

    Good luck!
