what are the things called on siding usually up in a gable on the front of a house used for decoration?
bam asked:
they kinda look like medallions with slats(sp?) but i dont think that is the correct word i am looking for. in older homes they are used for venting attics and even some are real windows but the thing i am referring to is vinyl and not a window but more for decoration.
decorative gable vents is the correct term. thanks

I know what you’re talking about but I thought it was just called a decorative vent.

I think your talking about Gingerbread/Victorian house trim. Look atthe link below and see if they help.

They are window shutters. In times past they were used as extra protection against bad weather conditions. In this time and age they are mainly just for decorations.
